Start to Feel Better

The first step in feeling better is to be able to recognize a problem. Symptoms of a problem may include:

  • Sleep disruption
  • Changes in appetite
  • Racing thoughts
  • Unexplained fears
  • Changes in energy level
  • Feeling unusually overwhelmed, sad, or irritable

These are some signs that you may need to consult with a professional. These symptoms may be associated with mood issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, or other emotional issues. Our experienced healthcare team is here to help you understand what is happening and improve the quality of your life.

THE WIGGLE ROOM

My name is Kelsey Brady and I am one of the therapists in the Pathway to Wellness family. This room has been a dream of mine since I started working here in 2018, and I am thrilled to finally have a usable large motor space right here in the clinic! The Wiggle Room (TWR): is an exciting part of therapy. The purpose of The Wiggle Room is to provide a space for children who need large motor input and output in order to regulate and process big feelings. We strive to provide an enjoyable and comforting experience for all.

Being able to recognize the families who, through their tragedy and heartbreak, found ways to uplift others in their community. Let’s focus on their generosity and their understanding that prevention begins early. As we know, children don’t do therapy the same way that adults do. Before this generous donation, we didn’t have an adequate space to truly meet children where they are at. With their gift, we are now better able to serve the needs of children who need to move their bodies in order to process and heal. I want to thank them for being open to channeling their donation to this project, knowing that early intervention can help kids build the skills they need to cope with stressors more safely in life, both now and in the future. Of course, not every tragedy can be prevented, and we are still so sorry for your loss. And with the addition of the Wiggle Room, we can give folks a better chance at lifelong wellness by equipping them with self-understanding and tools for self-regulation sooner, which is our main goal as a community clinic.

This room has been awhile in the making. Thank you for bearing with us while we conceived of and built it. A big shout out to those who donated their labor to the project – everything would still be in boxes if it wasn’t for you! I know I speak on behalf of the children, families, and Pathway staff by saying we cannot thank you enough. But we can certainly try, so thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

THE ART ROOM

Art therapy encourages creative expression through painting, drawing, or modelling. It may work by providing a person with a safe space to express their feelings and allow them to feel more in control over their life.

Just as a painting or a piece of music can say something in ways that almost defy description, art therapy provides individuals facing physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges with new pathways toward understanding and self-expression.

People do not have to be artists or even “good at art” to benefit from art therapy. This form of treatment is more than an art class or just something to keep people occupied. Art therapy uses the power of the arts and different modes of communication to get people to open up and engage with their therapy in new ways, which may enhance healing of all kinds.
